Formula One is here

Congratulations to the Singapore GP team!
After months' long negotiations  the Government announced Friday, May 11, 2007  that Singapore will host F1 races the next 5 years with an option for another 5 years!

Most  likely Singapore will be the first  and only night race in the  F1 calendar which  makes it very unique and also highly marketable for Asian, US and European television  audiences.

Bernie Ecclestone (over the phone): "I am very pleased to
welcome Singapore to the Formula One family and we look
forward to this exotic addition to the championship.

As a night race we anticipate it will quickly establish itself
as one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races on
our calendar. I know the Formula One drivers, teams and
fans are all looking forward to coming to Singapore next
year."

Ecclestone's idea that it become the first such event to be run at at night under floodlights have already come under fire from teams and drivers concerned about safety.
S.Iswaran: “We will proceed with the night race only if the safety and operational requirements ... are fully met.”

We are very confident Singapore well known for it's sufficency will make this happen.
And its gonna be very exciting for drivers as well as for spectators. On the 5.2km street course drivers will circuit around the Marina Bay area passing the Esplanade, City hall and the Singapore flyer.

"The F1 event would give a strong boost not only to the toursim centre but also for companies and individuals alike", said Mr. Iswaran.

Only one day after Bernie Ecclestrone had                 announced Valencia as host of another street circuit,  Mr. S. Iswaran  (Minister of State for Trade and Industry)  together with hotelier Ong Beng Seng and Lim Neo Chian (CEO Singapore Tourism Board) held a press conference where they broke the news about the successful negotiations.

Singapore will become the 3rd City to host a street  races for motor sports elite league the Formula One (F1).
